Woman Purchases ‘Pomeranian’ Puppy For $50 At The Mexican Border, But It’s Not A Pomeranian
Apparently, the Mexican border is one of the worst places to buy a puppy. Amanda Hamilton, a popular model and online content creator, would agree.
She recently posted a now-viral TikTok video of her returning from the border with what she thought was an adorable pomeranian puppy. But Amanda later discovered that it was, in fact, a baby wolf. Or a malamute. Or a husky. Anything but a Pomeranian.
The Wolf Starred in the Viral Video
How many wolves get to star in a viral video? Only a lucky few. The 32-second video showed Amanda returning home with her new pet. She had bought the ‘puppy’ for $50 and was excited about her new family member.
But viewers could tell that it looked nothing like a pomeranian. “He looked like an Alaskan malamute/husky from day one,” a comment read.
The Video Has Been Viewed Almost 12 million Times
11.7 million, to be exact. “I can’t believe they lied to me,” she wrote in the video. She probably felt embarrassed. But she wouldn’t be too bothered after the clip went viral. Good content is good content, right?
Amanda co-anchors “The Fab Life” on YouTube and TikTok (@issafablife) alongside her partner, Shannon. From here, they have followed their passion and made a living posting about their lifestyle and fashion journey.
Her Puppy is All Grown Up
After showing the innocent-looking puppy nibbling at her fingers in the car as she returns home from the border, the video cuts to show a full-grown animal that she calls a “wolf.”
In the new footage, its innocent look has disappeared, and even looks a bit intimidating. Next, the video shows the animal, now a few years old, wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
Viewers Were Shocked that She Fell for the Trick
As expected, numerous people on the internet have shared their disbelief over Amanda’s mix-up. Since the video went viral, many people have left numerous comments about her experience.
One commenter shared that “no way you thought that was a Pomeranian. Another person added that “Babe, it was never giving a Pomeranian, but a win is a win.” Someone else pointed out that the creature is, in fact, a Husky and not a Pomeranian or wolf.
"Have You Ever Seen A Pomeranian?"
Firstly, $50 for a pomeranian puppy is too good to be true. The standard price for a pure-bred pomeranian puppy would range from $1000 to $3000.
Secondly, anyone who knows a pomeranian can tell that Amanda’s puppy didn’t look even close to one. This brings us to a question in the comments. “Girl, have you ever seen a pomeranian?” We’re guessing not.
How to Tell A Pomeranian?
When it comes to picking a Pomeranian, you have to think about the breed standard. The American Kennel Club (AKC) has established this standard, so it is important to become familiar with them. This way, you can make a better decision than Amanda did.
Usually, their physical features can be used to differentiate them. Look out for features like the density, coat, and tail of the dog. Also, consider their muzzle and the length of their legs.
Buying A Pomeranian Puppy
For those who don’t want to fall for Amanda’s mistake, if you are looking to get yourself a real Pomeranian puppy, there are different ways to go about it.
First and foremost, ensure you are buying from the right place. Amanda’s incident certainly shows that buying from the border wasn’t the best idea in the first place. There are many platforms that display in-depth details about the breeds they sell.
Find a Registered Breeder
Once you have narrowed down a list of possible options, it’s important to ensure the puppy you get is truly the best. The only way to be sure is to get in touch with a registered Pomeranian breeder.
Most importantly, avoid buying from those who don’t have a good breeding program; these are often found at puppy mills. Puppy mills are sites that pay less attention to the quality of life or breed standards.
Other Things to Consider Before Getting a Pomeranian
While getting a Pomeranian might seem exciting and fun at first, there are many things to consider before you go ahead to make your choice. Think about your lifestyle. This is because these dogs have many needs and daily requirements.
It is important that you can commit to taking care of them and giving them the attention they need. Also, owning a Pomeranian comes with a serious financial responsibility, so be sure you’ve got that covered too.
